This article will be showing what discouragement/discouraging a user looks like on our forums.
"Discouraging aims to make using the site slow and painful for a problematic user, such that they eventually give up and leave" (XenForo Manual).
This quote from the XenForo 2 manual states that we have the power to slow down our website for specific users in order to discourage them from completing harmful tasks, such as spamming, trying to login into accounts that don't belong to them, etc.
Discouraging a user can make pages and/or content load slowly, it could take up to 1 hour for a page to load, or for you to complete certain actions. This does not affect non-discouraged users.
